"Ed's two previous books are "My Life In Cars" (Truth Serum Press - 2020) and "Engines of Belief - engagement with Modern Art" (ABenBook Press, 2015.) "My Life In Cars" is an investigation into the troubled menage a trois between desire, the 20th century and America's roadways, Ed's first book "Engines of Belief" is an ekphrastic journey through modern art which starts with Goya and goes on into contemporary art.
The link at the bottom of this box is to a 22 minute interview of me and Charlie D - whose photographs grace the "Cars" book. The program was locally aired and was conducted by poet/musician Chancelier Zero Skidmore of the Baton Rouge Arts Counsel. I read two poems during this broadcast. www.artsbr.org/podcast/edruzicka

"What is so outstanding about the poems of Ed Ruzicka's My Life in Cars is his ability to write a story within a story and to do it with a poet's artful and meticulous attention to sound and imagery." - John Warner Smith, Poet Laureate of Louisiana, 2019-2020
"Ed Ruzicka's My Life in Cars takes you on a wild ride in every model of God's open road ... and never runs out of gas." - David Madden, author of Marble Goddesses and Mortal Flesh and a fabulous outpouring of previous novels.

Below are two slideshows of public domain, modern art addressed in my first book, "Engines of Belief". Others appear on the "POEMS" page where I read a few from the book out loud.
Ed Pramuk's painting, "Night Walk in Clara's Room,"
is part of a series he produced in the 1980's. I was lucky enough to visit Ed's studio and see many of these at the time.Clara Schumann is the imagined subject. This painting belongs to Russell and Carolyn Levy. It was another five years before I became obsessed by these scenes. That obsession plays out in the final poem of the book, "The Etude."
